Give us a brief description of your background

I have almost 10 years working across different roles within the energy sector. Specifically, each of my roles has had a focus on reducing fuel poverty and improving energy efficiency within homes across Scotland. I have held customer facing roles giving energy advice, roles managing contractors and more recently I have moved into the reporting and data analysis sphere where I lead a team.

I have a degree in popular music and play the drums. In my spare time I play badminton, spend time with my wife and daughter and like to cook.

Who/what inspires you?

I am inspired by stories of success where unconventional or innovative ideas have led to success. Learning from other notable people’s experiences allows for me to gain a confidence in my own actions.

What does the word leadership make you think of?

Asides from the obvious – leading a ship. Leadership makes me think of someone who inspires others around them to make positive impacts.

How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?

I’m very pleased to be on the programme. I’m excited about the exposure to different ideas from people across a range of backgrounds and disciplines. In particular, I’m keen to test my conventions and gauge what improvements I can make.

On top of this, the opportunity to network and meet other future leaders working towards a net zero goal is a rare opportunity and I’m keen to get the most out of the experience.

What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?

I think firstly, there are a lot of keys to a sustainable future which all need to be ‘turned’ at the same time. There is not a silver bullet to tackling the issue and its unlikely that there will ever be one right path. I feel that a holistic approach is the only way we will achieve a sustainable future. We need to have a good combination of Macro and Micro solutions to reach this goal.
