Give us a brief description of your background
I studied for a degree in Business Studies and a master’s in accounting, my work background comes from several jobs within retail, some time as a Special Constable with West Yorkshire Police.
I worked on the graduate scheme with Stagecoach Bus across depots in Chesterfield and Sheffield, then took a job as a Project Manager working on fare and ticketing schemes across the UK.
I became a Planning Manager in my current position with Aira in November 2023, intrigued by the renewables sector and eager to learn more and throw myself in the deep end of something I knew nothing about.
Who/what inspires you?
My wife inspires me to challenge myself to always do better, I also take a lot of passion from being competitive and never being satisfied with the status quo, I want me and my team to be the best at what we do and won’t settle for second best. I take a lot of energy and inspiration from famous figures who are obsessed about their role (Guardiola).
What does the word leadership make you think of?
Empowering others to make their own decisions and use their initiative, allowing them to make mistakes and learn from them to do better. Instilling the mentality of forward thinking, efficiency and aspiring to be the best.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
Very excited to see how it goes, open to meeting different people with their own backgrounds and perspectives, hopefully learning lots from them and using this experience to better myself and my team.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
Awareness and education are the key drivers, we need to generate an educational way for every person to understand what a sustainable future is and what it means for them.
