Give us a brief description of your background

I currently work as a Scheme Insights Manager for MCS, having joined the company back in December 2022 in the role of Scheme Analyst. Prior to this, I had spent almost 2 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Audit Associate.

I hold a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Liverpool, where I also stayed on to study for my Masters in Philosophy, graduating in September 2020.

Who/what inspires you?

Political leaders who demonstrate a commitment to progressive values and social justice causes. It’s inspiring to see leaders who promote advocacy for marginalised communities, emphasis on equality, and dedication to environmental and anti-war efforts.

Public officials who prioritise humanitarian concerns and authenticity are also inspiring, especially when, for me, it is easy to become disillusioned with traditional political establishments which seem not to serve as a solid foundation for implementing meaningful change.

What does the word leadership make you think of?

To me, leadership is about inspiring and empowering those around you. To be a leader, you should create an environment in which people feel able to contribute as well as capable of working in line with their individual strengths to achieve shared goals. Though a leader should be strong in their convictions, they should also be adaptable to new information and not bound by singular modes of thinking.

How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?

Having heard such great things about the Future Leaders programme from colleagues who have been involved in previous groups, it has been great to get started. I’m also excited to collaborate with the other members of my cohort, from whom there is such a wide array of backgrounds and areas of expertise.

What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?

We need to shift our thinking towards reaching goals in the long run instead of favouring inaction due to the short-term sacrifices and changes that they will require. Being proactive and forward-thinking will be crucial to us achieving net zero.
