Carl Dixon
Trustmark
Give us a brief description of your background
In my current role at Trustmark, I carry out multiple tasks as part of the endeavour to ensure complete compliance in the retrofit industry with PAS2035. Versatility is key as my position requires contact with consumers either by phone, email or by visiting their homes to carry out technical compliance audits. Also, I am responsible for coaching our Desktop Audit Team with all of the technical challenges they’re presented with daily and enjoy helping them find the answers to their questions.
I have a deep-rooted passion for our environment and am prepared to help meet all challenges we face in our commitment to reach carbon net-zero by 2050 head-on.
Who/what inspires you?
I’m inspired by grit and determination. Those who when others may be ready to give up help them dig deep and find that little bit extra to get over the line. Having previously served in the Royal Navy, I also appreciate the discipline instilled by the military and believe that I have inherited some of these qualities.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
Leadership to me is being able to make the change, not fear it. Using pro-activity instead of being reactive, also empowering those around you. These skills enable us to be able to make capacity to look up/ahead knowing that our colleagues possess the capability and have the clarity to flourish in their positions.
Also, I believe that asking powerful questions and listening intently to the answers is a key attribute of any good leader.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
To have been selected by Trustmark to be part of the Future Leaders programme gives me a great sense of pride and also gratitude. I feel with the group of immensely talented individuals on this cohort, we will form a team capable of great things.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
Finding solutions to minimise and eventually cease the usage of fossil fuels indefinitely. We know the effect using them has had on the environment and we know what is required in order to reach carbon net-zero by 2050. Now as a collective we must take action and face the challenges we’ve been presented.
