Chris Galpin
E3G (Third Generation Environmentalism)
Give us a brief description of your background
I am an energy bills campaigner and environmentalist. I currently work at E3G, advocating for a fairer energy transition.
Prior to E3G I spent over five years developing policy for UK Government. Before that I trained as an engineer, and I have practical experience working for small businesses in the renewables and clean heat sectors.
Outside of my work for E3G, I am Fuel Poverty Director at Croydon Community Energy. I live in Croydon with my partner and two cats.
Who/what inspires you?
Leaders who are empathetic and selfless - who take an active interest in others’ needs and make sacrifices for the benefit of others.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
Supporting others to achieve their potential. Providing clarity of direction whilst also creating space for creativity and innovation. Considering the best outcome for the team as a whole in addition to personal objectives.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
I’m really excited to join the Future Leaders programme. I’m particularly looking forwards to meeting a range of people who are passionate about delivering a better future.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
I think the key to a sustainable future is ensuring our vision of the future has a place for everyone. We need to bring people on the journey and build new alliances. We must ensure people can see how change will benefit them, and address their anxieties about what change may bring.
