Give us a brief description of your background
After spending one year at Selby College and another at Garforth Academy Sixth Form, I realized higher education wasn’t the path for me. I decided to pursue a sales apprenticeship as a telesales advisor, working my way up to Telesales Manager.
Following the completion of my degree, I transitioned into a Field Sales Representative role. Currently, I’m the Head of my department in Operations at Trust Electric Heating, where I’ve recently taken on an apprentice. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead as I continue to grow in my career.
Who/what inspires you?
My mum inspires me for many reasons, but it’s her unwavering work ethic that stands out the most. She’s always been driven and motivated, breaking through into a male-dominated industry with fearless determination. No challenge is too big for her, and she continually strives to improve herself and push beyond limits. Yet, her success isn’t just about her own journey – she’s incredibly compassionate and caring. She invests in her colleagues, ensuring they have the support and opportunities to reach their full potential, paving the way for their own prosperous careers.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
The word ‘leadership‘ brings to mind qualities like guidance, inspiration, and responsibility. It’s about more than just managing a team – true leadership means motivating and empowering others to achieve their best, leading by example, and making decisions that benefit both the individuals and the collective. It’s also about being adaptable, accountable, and willing to listen, fostering a culture of growth and trust. Leadership is often about having a vision and guiding others towards it, while also supporting them along the way.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
Taking part in the Future Leaders programme brings a mix of excitement, apprehension, and open-mindedness. The excitement comes from the opportunity to grow and develop new skills, while the apprehension might stem from the unknown challenges ahead. At the same time, being open-minded allows for embracing new ideas, perspectives, and experiences that can shape the path forward in leadership. It’s a step toward personal and professional growth.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
A sustainable future depends on key factors like shifting to renewable energy, adopting sustainable agricultural practices, and moving toward a circular economy that reduces waste. It also involves conserving biodiversity, investing in green technology, and raising awareness about sustainability. Equally important is ensuring social equity, so that resources and opportunities are distributed fairly, benefiting both people and the planet. Together, these actions can create a balanced and resilient future for generations to come.
