Rachel Leadbeater

Environment Agency

Give us a brief description of your background

I have been working at the Environment Agency for almost five years, I joined in 2019 as a Business Administration Apprentice after leaving sixth form. I now work as an Executive Assistant within our Strategy, Transformation and Assurance directorate. Within my work, I always look for opportunities to champion EDI, innovation and personal growth.

Who/what inspires you?

My friends and family are my biggest inspiration, I strive to make them proud of the work I do, and equally I find joy and motivation in watching them succeed with their own goals.

I am definitely a ‘people person’ and love supporting others to reach their full potential, both in my work and personal life.

What does the word leadership make you think of?

It makes me think of the great leaders I have had in the past, those who brought out the best in me through their authenticity, knowledge and advice. I believe that everyone can learn the behaviours to become one of these leaders with the right mindset, tools and people around them.

How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?

I am super excited and grateful for the opportunity to take part in the programme, to connect with fellow future leaders in the net zero space and unlock my full potential as a leader.

What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?

I believe that small changes by every person are the key to producing big results. But to achieve that, we need to provide equal access to education for everyone.
