Give us a brief description of your background

In my current role as Compliance Officer, I’ve draw on my paralegal background implement legislative controls across various departments, encompassing areas ranging from technical product standards and environmental requirements to comprehensive ISO auditing.

As a nonbinary individual, my journey in embracing personal identity extends beyond the workplace. My passion for body modification, including piercings and tattoos, has not only allowed me to express myself authentically but has also made me an advocate for inclusivity and acceptance of diverse identities within professional environments.

Beyond my professional life, I am a TTRPG enthusiast, running tabletop RPGs at conventions and events, where I serve as a storyteller, guiding participants through immersive and imaginative worlds. Through these experiences, I aim to foster creativity, camaraderie, and a safe space for individuals to explore their own unique identities and connect with like-minded souls in a welcoming and affirming environment.

Who/what inspires you?

Activists like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera who stood for what they believed in against popular opinion and without the support of the general public. Because, in their eyes their cause was not only worth fighting for but worth dying for as well.

What does the word leadership make you think of?

I think of leadership as an opportunity to serve and be a strong role model for teams and colleagues inspiring team members to pursue their own path and development.

A leader is continually striving to enhance their skills, become a more attentive listener, and serve team or group members better.

Leadership and leaders should place a high value on the well-being and growth of each individual.

How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?

I am honoured to be part of the Future Leaders Program, which I hope will catalyse my development as a driving force for environmental consciousness in Greater Manchester. I aim to use the skills and knowledge gained to promote sustainability and inspire positive change within the community. I believe that together we can develop impactful solutions to environmental challenges. Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting legacy of environmental stewardship in the region, and I see this program as a pivotal step in starting that journey.

What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?

I believe a key to sustainability is assigning the proper responsibility to organisations and governments. However, a truly sustainable future requires a serious consideration of the interwoven socio-economic issues such as homelessness, poverty, and unified equality. Through tackling of these roadblocks that stand in the way of accessibility to sustainability in less privileged or developed parts of our society can we make real progress towards addressing our responsibility of environmental stewardship. Only as a collective can we achieve a sustainable future.
