Give us a brief description of your background
I am currently a Digital Communications Assistant at MCS, which marks my first role after leaving college. I joined MCS as an apprentice two years ago and successfully completed my Content Creator apprenticeship with The Juice Academy last summer. During this time, I honed my skills in creating impactful digital content and managing multiple platforms. My passion for the environment aligns perfectly with MCS's mission to give everyone confidence in home-grown energy, and I am proud to help communicate this.
Before starting my career, I spent a year traveling Australia, New Zealand and South-East Asia, which deepened my appreciation for the natural world and strengthened my commitment to making a positive impact.
Who/what inspires you?
I feel incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such motivated and hardworking individuals. My friends and partner are all deeply passionate about their careers, and their dedication has always inspired and encouraged me to pursue something I’m equally passionate about. When I had the opportunity to work for MCS where I was able to combine my creativity and love for the environment, it just felt right.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
To me, being a leader is about selflessness, being able to guide a group toward a common goal while always prioritising the team and the end objective over their own personal needs. A great leader inspires and empowers others, fostering a trusting and collaborative environment to bring out the best in everyone.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
I’m really excited to begin the Future Leaders Programme! Several of my colleagues, who I admire and look up to within the business, have also completed the programme. Their confidence in their roles and the personal growth they’ve achieved inspire me to follow in their footsteps. I look forward to building on my leadership skills and finding innovative ways to drive meaningful change in the green sector.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
In my opinion, one of the biggest barriers preventing people from contributing to the fight against climate change is cost. The average person simply cannot afford to install low-carbon energy technologies in their home or switch to an electric car for their daily commute. To overcome this, government bodies must collaborate to introduce more initiatives that make these transitions easier and more accessible.
