Give us a brief description of your background
I am a business management graduate from Manchester Metropolitan University having completed one-year overseas study at The University of Bologna in Italy. I am 10 months into my career in a sustainability manager role for a small textile merchant based in Manchester.
Who/what inspires you?
What inspires me is to acknowledge and recognise other people’s achievements in and out of the working environment, which can include close friends, family members, colleagues or world leaders who I look up to.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
The word ‘leadership’ makes me think of dedicated, passionate, and committed organisations and individuals around the world coming together to make society a better place. Leadership isn't confined to politics and government; it also involves groups, individuals, and organisations that collaborate with or influence governments to tackle global challenges.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
I am delighted to be taking part in the Future Leaders Programme to meet other passionate and driven individuals who I can learn from, improve my confidence and to develop a set of skills which will enable me to progress in my professional career.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
The keys to a sustainable future are government intervention and legalisation. This enables the private sector to respond to legalisation and to adapt and innovate as well as engagement from industry experts and large corporations who play a huge role in decarbonisation. Lastly, I believe that a shift in consumer mentality is key, however it all comes back to the role of government and influential organisations/individuals to make drastic changes. Lastly, I think a collaborative approach rather than an authoritative approach to achieving a sustainable future is key to get everyone on board.
