Vincent Bailey
B.A. Hydro Solutions Ltd
Give us a brief description of your background
I grew up in the county of Essex and studied for an MSci in Geology at UCL before beginning work at B.A. Hydro Solutions in 2019. I initially worked as a laboratory technician through a summer internship before transitioning to the hydro-thermogeology part of the business where I have progressed rapidly with internal and external training to design and coordinate multi-megawatt GSH&C projects across the UK. In my spare time I enjoy keeping fit, a tipple, driving, watching movies, and doing the dishes.
Who/what inspires you?
While studying for my degree, I learnt how paleoclimates have changed, why our modern climate is changing and how rapidly the changes are occurring. These lessons helped me recognise that the opportunity to contribute to reducing the carbon footprint of our populations with ground source heating is a superb way to use my degree for the benefit of the environment.
What does the word leadership make you think of?
Recognition of the important missions which require solving and planning the necessary solutions using the necessary skills, resources at hand and communicating with the right people. In a nutshell, making a positive movement.
How do you feel about taking part in the Future Leaders programme?
I’m keen to learn how I can communicate concisely and clearly under pressure, make my work more time efficient and improve my project coordination with colleagues.
What do you think are the keys to a sustainable future?
Commercialising low or zero carbon technologies and prioritising the preservation of environmental systems – both on domestic and global scales.
